Not only does Tony's Tennis Camp support teaching students to love the game, but we also support area tennis teams. Below you'll find information on the 2018 Kennett/Unionville Area Fall Junior Team Tennis and the 2018 Delaware USTA Adult Tennis Team.

 

2018 Kennett/Unionville Area
Fall Junior Team Tennis

What is it?
It’s a coed team tennis league among area clubs and teams that runs September-October. This league is designed for intermediate level players.

What are the age groups?
We have many divisions 12 & under, 14 & under Coed, and 18 & under Boys. All players on the team must be of that age or younger until August 31, 2019. For instance, players in the 14 and under division can’t 15 until after August 31, 2018.

What is the format?
The format is modified World Team Tennis. 12u, 14u, consist of one set each of boy’s singles, girl’s singles, boy’s doubles, girl’s doubles, and two sets mixed doubles. 18u Boys will consist of 3 singles and 2 doubles. One player can play in no more than 2 matches

Does the team have practices?
YES! Players will have team practices which involve stroke development, games and competition. Please check the schedules page.

How much does it cost?
Each player must pay a League Fee of $12. This covers costs of Trophies, and Online Administration. Team fees may also be necessary to cover costs for balls, court fees, etc. They will pay league fees online. Players might also pay team fees for balls, court time and coaching. Also, USTA membership is required to play in the leagues, which is only $20/year. You can get membership at www.usta.com/membership.

Advancement:
For the 12 & under, 14 & under divisions and 18 & under Coed the teams that win their league may be eligible to advance to the District or Section Championships in the summer of 2014. In order to advance, players must have played at least 3 team matches in the league, as reported on TennisLink.

What are the next steps in forming a team?
Here is a short calendar:
August 27th: Practices start the week of August 27 (ASAP)
August 31th: Deadline for players to sign up for league.
September 5th : Schedule Comes Out
September 8th : Play Begins for Saturday Leagues
Late October: League Play Ends

2018 Delaware USTA
Adult Tennis Team

What is it?
It’s a men/ladies team tennis league among area teams that runs early-April through mid-July. We have leagues designed for beginning to advanced players of ages 18 and up, 40 and over, and 55 and over or 65 and over. We have 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 ladies teams and 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 men’s teams. They are about 8 to 15 players.

What do I need to do in order to play?
You can play on our team! We will have a team in each adult division (2.5, 3.0, 3.5 ladies teams and 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 men’s teams) and one 3.0 Senior Ladies team in the Kennett/Unionville area. Matches will take place on after 6pm on weekdays and weekend afternoons, and each match takes up 5 courts for about 1.5 hours. We need at least 8 players available to play each match.

How much does it cost?
Each player must pay a League Fee of $36. This covers costs of trophies, and online administration. They will pay league fees online. Also, USTA membership is required to play in the leagues, which is only $44/year. You can get membership at www.usta.com/membership.

Does the team have practices?
Players will have team practices, which involve stroke development, games and competition. Each team has a practice once a week. The cost is $90 for six sessions or drop in $20 a session.

What is the format?
The format is each team match will consist of two singles matches and three doubles matches. Except 2.5 teams will one singles and two doubles. We will need eight players per match except for 2.5 teams, which only need five players per match.

Advancement:
The teams that win each division will advance to the DATD District Championships in July.
NOTE: In order to compete at Districts, players must have played in at least 3 team matches in the league.
